Corrections policy
How we handle errors after publication.
When we get something wrong, we fix it and we say so. We do not quietly edit an article to remove an error.
A correction is issued when an article contained a factual error. A clarification is issued when an article was accurate but open to being misread. An update is issued when events have moved on and the article has been extended.
Every correction, clarification and update is dated, attached to the article it concerns, and listed in our public corrections log.
To report an error, contact the editor named on the article, or write to us through our contact page. Include the headline and the specific passage.
